Daybreak over Cerro Torre

Daybreak over Cerro Torre

After spending two days camping in the shadow of Fitz Roy, we hiked 8 miles to camp near Cerro Torre, which is located in the Parque National los Glaciares in Aregentina. It sits on the eastern slope of the Patagonian Ice Cap, 50 miles north of Torres del Paine in Chile. Both Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre are climbing destinations for top climbers all over the world. The Italians, in particular, lust for these difficult peaks. We rose at 5 am to hike 30 minutes to the overlook above this lake to witness this amazing spectacle of daybreak lighting up Cerro Torre.
