Gaucho Gil lived in the last 1800's. Legend has it that he was an outlaw who saved himself from arrest by miraculously healing the dying son of his captor. He was released and roamed about the countryside healing many. Today, the locals erect these roadside memorials to Gaucho Gil; always covered with red flags and various offerings. Gaucho Gil must have enjoyed his spirits!
