Zion - Autumn Watercolor
Early one morning, I decided to explore a small valley under a bridge leading to the high country in Zion. As I wandered about, I heard the sound of a trickling waterfall high above me. Determined to find the source, I shouldered my camera and tripod and began to climb up through the scrub. It was not easy! Grabbing onto whatever tree branches and underbrush I could find, I hoisted myself up through the bushes until I came to the fall. Not finding any good composition, I started to head back down, but looked around once more and saw this colorful autumn abstract. The tree trunks offer strong "bones" to this colorful visual feast, leading the eye into and throughout the mass of small twigs and leaves. I doubt that any painter could rival the mastery of Mother Nature on this autumn morning.
