Waiting for the Wind - Key West, Florida
On a springtime visit to Key West, I went out for a sunset sailboat cruise with my husband and lots of other tourists. There was not much wind that day, so the "sail" was a motor trip out to the mangroves off the west coast. On our return to Key West, everyone got into the party mode and started happy hour on the boat, drinking beer and snacking. But not me! I saw a chance to get a photo with a different point of view. I laid down on the deck of the boat, under the sail, and pointed my camera toward the sky. Using a flash to illuminate the white sail, I was able to make an image which included the sail, rigging, and the setting sun on the water. There were moments when I hung partially over the edge of the boat to get my shots. Needless to say, the captain was not happy, but I was thrilled when I found this image on my memory card.
